Remember?
When the sky
Was filled with autumn leaves
And the air was filled with a night breeze
So cold
it gave us the excuse
To press
warm bodies
Looking for a reason
To be together
You looked me in the eyes
Zoomed in with precision
And whispered into room
Spoke sultry words into existence
"I feel like a catastrophe"
A ticking time bomb
Gears shifting
Clicking into place
The timer goes off
And a loud rumbling
Roars off into the distance
But no one is here to witness
They've all missed it.
The floor falls from under you
As you try to pick up the pieces.
One at a time.
You pause and look at me
With eyes filled with guilt
And say, "I am a catastrophe."
Liza, also known as “Leez” is a first- generation immigrant, who is a multimedia artist who enjoys writing poetry in her down time. Writing has been a way that she has been able to express herself, when even she would attempt to silence herself. Although words may have not always been easy to find, Leez has always found great joy in being able to write poetry to make sense of the world around her. Leez has only ever hoped to make her work be available to anyone in hopes of writing something that can resonate with others.
