[Poem-a-Week] Untitled by Zari Black
Artificial flavors and bad meat. Spoiled milk and rotten beets. Sugar free cake and chalky water. Motherless son and fatherless daughters. I work all day to panic all night. How long can I do this? Am I doing anything right? Underpaid employees and working all day. For a CEO who does nothing for a lot of pay. This is my America. This is the world. You can either bend to the rules or bend and get twirled. This place will try and trick you. It is not what it seems. We must dismantle the concept of the American dream. You do not want this life. This world is a trap. The Army will invade your country and blow them off the map. We have ruined everything with greed and hate. You don’t want to eat at this table. Do not eat what is on that plate. Oh no, you tasted the poison and you’ll succumb too. Now go pick your team, are you red, white or blue? They all are the same but are packaged differently. One will spit in your face while the other laughs at your misery. All are bad but now you have no choice. Take your pick or fight and use your voice.
